A note about our upcoming meeting….
Dear Board Members,
As I reflect on the incredible impact of our organization, I am reminded that our mission is far greater than any one individual. Each of us has been entrusted with a season of leadership and stewardship, and together we have the privilege of ensuring that this work continues to thrive for generations to come.
One of the most important responsibilities of a healthy board is not simply governing for today, but preparing for tomorrow. Succession planning is an act of faith, wisdom, and stewardship. It is our commitment to the families we serve, our donors, our staff, and our community that the mission will remain strong regardless of leadership transitions.
The greatest legacy we can leave is not solely found in programs, buildings, or accomplishments. It is found in creating a sustainable organization that can continue to fulfill its purpose long after our individual terms of service have ended. When we intentionally identify, develop, and prepare future leaders, we strengthen the foundation of the organization and honor the trust that has been placed in us.
Although the staff will be away for training during this month's board meeting, I know you will see the heart, dedication, and impact of our work reflected throughout our reports. Each report represents countless hours of service, compassion, and commitment to the families and individuals we are privileged to serve.
We are grateful for your continued leadership, support, and stewardship in our absence. Thank you for carrying forward the important work of governance and mission oversight. We look forward to gathering with you again in August as we reconvene following our July adjournment.
Thank you for your dedication, vision, and commitment. Together, let us continue to build not only for today, but for the future, ensuring that the hope and healing we provide will endure for many years to come.

Moment of Hope
Heartfelt moments within our walls and Board-Led Community Engagements
The outcome of what we witness
Jensen's shared his story at Wings of Hope and it beautifully exemplified the mission of The Hope & Healing Place: walking alongside grieving children and families as they discover healing, hope, and resilience.
As a former participant whose father died of cancer, Jensen courageously shared his grief journey and the profound impact The Hope & Healing Place has had on his life. Speaking with honesty and maturity, he reflected on the struggles he faced in his early years of grief, including his participation in Generations and Hope Camp. Jensen shared how anger once consumed much of his grief, particularly surrounding the circumstances of his father's death. Through the support, tools, and relationships he found at The Hope & Healing Place, he has come to understand that the choices leading to his father's death were beyond his control and that carrying that burden was never his responsibility.
Today, Jensen represents the full circle of healing. Once a young boy struggling to navigate overwhelming emotions, he now stands as a confident young man committed to being a role model for other children and teens facing the death of a parent. His desire to encourage others on their grief journey reflects the very heart of our mission.
Perhaps most touching was Jensen's hope that his father would be proud of the person he is becoming. His story is a powerful testament to the healing that is possible when children are given the opportunity to process their grief in a safe, supportive community. From his first Generations group to Hope Camp and beyond, Jensen's journey demonstrates how hope can emerge from profound loss and how healing continues long after the initial pain.
For those of us privileged to witness his journey, especially those who walked alongside him from the beginning, Jensen's story is a moving reminder of why our work matters. His courage, growth, and willingness to share his experience embody the lasting impact of Generations and the transformative power of grief support.

Lowlights…
Our intern....
Has needed to step back from interning at HHP, so we currently do not have one.
Our Families……
We have had one family not return after the first night and two other families make it through night two but decided they needed a little more time before going through Generations. This leaves us with 12 families for the cycle now.

HIGHLIGHTS
March In Motion
We had 13 student volunteers from AmTech, 1 volunteer from WTAMU, all staff and 3 board members help at the Wiley Hicks Memorial Roping event
We have Life Church, Bank of America and Valero McKee confirmed to help host aid stations for our Half Marathon this year
We have had 4 different community members reach out through our website interested in volunteer opportunities
LOWLIGHTS
Where It Got Tough
Temporary decline in social media activity due to prioritization of Half Marathon planning and support
Learning to effectively balance both event support and social media responsibilities has been a challenge
Next Up: April in Action
In April, I’ll be focusing on bringing in and confirming volunteers for the Wings of Hope Half Marathon. Having a strong, reliable volunteer group will be key to making sure everything runs smoothly and that participants have a great experience.
1 Proactively reach out to past volunteers and community partners to invite them to participate again
2 Utilize social media to promote volunteer opportunities and sign-ups for HM/WOH
3 Maintain consistent follow-up and communication to confirm roles, expectations, and event details
I'd love your feedback if you have any ideas on how to approach this obstacle. Be sure to submit your comments so I can provide sufficient responses.
