A note about our upcoming meeting….

Dear Board Members,

As we approach the end of this year, I would like to express my gratitude to each of you and the heart you bring to The Hope & Healing Place mission. This season always invites reflection, and as I look back, I’m humbled by how far we’ve come and energized by the direction we are moving.

In these final weeks of the year, we are working intentionally to deepen the impact of The Road to Hope Campaign. This includes strengthening key relationships, refining our outreach to families who need us most, and ensuring that our message of hope, comfort, and healing continues to reach those navigating the most challenging paths. We are also continuing the work for a focused end-of-year giving effort, Hopegiving. That will sustain and expand our work as we head into the new year.

Your leadership makes this possible. Your prayers, guidance, and support have carried us through a year of meaningful growth, and the team and I are grateful for the wisdom each of you brings to the table. As we take these next steps, advancing the mission, inviting partners into generosity, and moving deeper into the heart of Road to Hope, I’m confident that we are positioned for an even stronger year ahead.

Thank you for standing with me in this work. I look forward to entering the coming year with renewed momentum and shared purpose.

Moment of Hope

Heartfelt moments within our walls and Board-Led Community Engagements

Just when you think.........

Becky and I finished a six-week adult group at Boys Ranch in October.  The first time you meet with a teenage or adult group can be quiet and feel awkward as no one wants to talk.   So when Becky and I experienced this very thing on our first afternoon with these 7 adults, we didn’t think much about it….but then, we experienced the same thing on weeks 2, then 3, 4, 5.  Our time driving back to Amarillo consisted of conversations about, “How or what could we have done different today?”  So, our final day comes with this group and the participants finally opened up about how helpful their experience had been to think about and process some of the emotions they had been feeling about the death that had happened on the ranch.  Afterwards, our previous intern, Adam, and Catherine (who came through Generations last year with her daughter and who oversees the counseling team at BR) came in.  Catherine shared with us that almost every participant had come to her during our time with them and expressed to her how thankful and helpful this process had been.  The lesson learned……we keep showing up, saving a space for the hurt and pain of grief. Sometimes we see change on the outside, sometimes we don’t.  Holding that space allows for the hard work of grief, as Dr. Wolfelt says, and trust the process.
