Meet the Staff

Roy Bowen

Roy is the Executive Director of the Hope & Healing Place. He is an experienced leader in growing and sustaining non-profits to have effective boards, quality services, and to work in partnership with corporate and community leaders for strategic visioning and optimum marketing.

Roy served as board president from 2003 - 2005 and from 2005 to present he has served as Executive Director. His background as a minister and a social worker match HHP's mission to serve children and families.

 

 

Beth Kean

Beth is co-founder of Hope & Healing Place along with Tricia Trimble. She currently serves as co-director of programs at HHP. As program director, Beth works to provide programs that meet the needs of children and families who are grieving. In coordination with Dr. Terry Hargrave she developed and wrote a grief curriculum for HHP. Beth has also co-authored an in-patient Cognitive Behavioral Therapy program with Dr. Dan McGhee.

Beth is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Board Certified Registered Art therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor. Beth has spent over 40 years working with children, families and adults in public school counseling, private practice and in-patient hospital settings.

Her professional experiences are reflected in the quality of programs that HHP is able to offer.

 

Tricia Trimble

Tricia, along with Beth Kean, founded Hope & Healing Place in 2003 as a non-profit children's grief, loss and trauma center in Amarillo, Texas. She currently serves as co-director of programs at HHP. As a Certified Trauma Specialist, her experience and understanding of the devastating impact trauma and grief can have on the personality/behavior of children, when not addressed, give her unique insight in this field.

Tricia retired from the school district after 34 years and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice since 1995. Tricia initiated the development of the Amarillo Independent School District's Crisis Response Team and is currently an active member of several National & International Critical Incident Response Teams. She co-authored an article in the Journal of the National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children with Dr. William Steele, director and founder of the institute.

 

Tiffany N. Laur, MA, MT-BC

Tiffany has been with HHP since 2007 and currently serves as co-leader of Journeys Group, and facilitator in the family program.

Her involvement with HHP began through the Junior League of Amarillo's volunteer efforts to serve charitable organizations in Amarillo. She currently serves as the Junior League's Hope and Healing Place project coordinator and Board of Directors representative to HHP. In addition to her efforts with Junior League, she has devoted considerable additional efforts to help extend the reach and message of Hope and Healing Place through her additional work with the organization. Tiffany has also served as a student intern to provide counseling services.

In addition to her work at Hope and Healing Place, Tiffany operates a private music therapy practice and is working to complete her State of Texas requirements to receive her LPC. She is a considerable asset to Hope and Healing Place, bringing the experience of more than 10 years of professional experience in the areas of social services, music therapy, children with special needs, emotionally disturbed adolescents, and grief and loss support.

Tiffany holds a MA in Counseling and a BA in Music Therapy from West Texas A&M University. She has been a board certified music therapist with Certification Board for Music Therapists and a professional member of American Music Therapy Association since 2003. She is from Odessa, TX and currently resides in Amarillo with her husband and two children.

 

Chas Massey

Chas has taken on the role of Communications Coordinator for the Hope & Healing Place. She brings a background in non-profit volunteer work as well as marketing, public relations, and event planning. She became familiar with the Hope and Healing Place during her Presidency for the Junior League of Amarillo.

Chas has a BBA in Management from West Texas A&M University. She serves on various community Boards and especially loves the non-profit community. She was born and raised in Amarillo and has deep roots in the community. A majority of her and her husband's time is spent enjoying their 3 children's many activities.

 

Paula Abbott

Paula staffs with others on family needs and how best they can be served through HHP. She facilitates adult grief groups and does individual counseling with HHP families. She has been working for HHP for approximately 8 years and began training other volunteers approximately 4 years ago. She also facilitates "Heart Prints", an infant loss support group.

Paula has worked as a counselor/teacher for Amarillo Independent School District for 12 years and has a private counseling practice at HHP. She was recognized as Outstanding School Counselor of the Year in 2008 by the High Plains Counseling Association. She is a member of the Association of Play Therapy and is verified by Psychology Today.

Paula holds an A.A.S in substance abuse counseling from Amarillo College. She also holds a B.A.A.S in social work and a M.Ed. in counseling from West Texas A&M University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor- LPC, a National Certified Counselor- NCC, and a Registered Play Therapist- RPT (all play therapy hours are from The University of North Texas)

Becky Lozano

Becky co-facilitates the adult Journey Group at HHP. She was part of the very first training set up by Tricia and Beth at the onset of Hope and Healing and helped to facilitate the first Family Night. She helped with the Family program up until two years ago when Roy had the vision of starting the Journey Group. She then teamed up with Roy for over a year and currently co-facilitates Journey with Tiffany Laur.

Becky has been a counselor for the Amarillo School District for the past twelve years. The first eight years, she was the counselor for Carver Elementary Academy and Carver Early Childhood Academy. The past four years, she has served as one of the district's five Behavior Intervention Counselors. She is a CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) trainer for AISD and has received specialized training from TLC (Trauma and Loss in Children) and serves on the school district's Trauma Team. In addition to her school counseling certification, she received her credentials as a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2009.
