About Us
Our Mission
To promote the healing of grieving children and their families after the death of a sibling, parent, or grandparent. HPP provides these services in a child-friendly center with a warm, home like, supportive environment staffed with skilled professionals and trained volunteer program facilitators.
History of the Hope & Healing Place
Beth Kean and Tricia Trimble’s dream to open a center for grieving children and families became a reality in 2003 with a generous founding grant given by Tricia’s parents, Melvin and Jo Beighle of Skellytown, Texas. Financial support to sustain HHP services come from Panhandle families, companies, foundations, family trusts, memorial gifts, and special events. The HHP is a 501c3, non-profit agency, governed by a local board of directors.
Our programs were developed using the theories of Dr. Terry Hargrave, an internationally known professor and author. Our Family program has a structured approach in which age appropriate groups are provided for children and “loss” specific groups for the adults. This approach allows both the children and parents to share common goals and objectives. It is the hope of HHP that after each Family Night, the families leave with opportunities to begin a dialogue about their experiences at HHP.
